INTRODUCTION :

It all took place in the south of China, in a city that was slowly fading, a story of four girls dependent on each other for their life.

It all occurred in the “old town”, surrounded on all sides by a circle of mountains, and encircled by the Jinsha River, famed for its heavy industry 50 years ago, known formerly as the pinnacle of China’s steel industry. But as China’s economy reformed and changed, the city became gradually more and more forgotten.

3 high school students, each perplexed and confused about their own futures, through their frustration and annoyance became the closest of friends. From an affluent family that later succumbed to debt and bankruptcy, Jin Xi is vivacious and domineering, but lonely at heart. Ma Yueyue is motherless from a young age. Her father, laden with guilt, burdened his daughter with a strict control - a sense of restraint and control that was impossible for Yueyue to shake. Abandoned by her mother at a young age, Shui Qing grew up with her stepmother and father. She never felt a true sense of belonging, and always cherished the memory of her mother.

One unexpected day, after 17 long years, Shui Qing’s long lost and cherished mother returned home. Weary from the road but inescapably beautiful, Qu Ting had returned with the intention to repay her gambling debt. She hadn’t expected that her return would evoke such strong and deep feelings of youth inside her. Instinctively and naturally, her life became one with the three girls. The four now became the “rabbit warren”. Spending time together, they became bolder together, becoming freer as one.

As if risen from the depths of hell, the debt collectors came for Qu Ting and give her 3 days to repay the huge gambling debt she owes. In the face of the devils, the meek and slight Shui Qing fights for her newly regained mother and best friend. Spurned through youthful innocence and puerile naivety, her far-fetched plan to get her mother out of trouble bit by bit runs away from her control...
